Houston, Jun 24 (V7N)- Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo etched his name further into World Cup history by scoring in his sixth consecutive FIFA World Cup, achieving the remarkable feat during Portugal's Group “K” clash against Uzbekistan national football team on Tuesday (June 23).

The historic moment came in just the sixth minute of the match at Houston Stadium in Texas, giving Portugal an early advantage and strengthening their bid for a first victory of the tournament.

Portugal entered the match under pressure after being held to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo national football team in their opening Group “K” fixture. As a result, Ronaldo and his teammates were determined to secure all three points against Uzbekistan.

Ronaldo's latest strike adds another chapter to an extraordinary World Cup career that began in Germany in 2006. He scored his first World Cup goal against Iran in that tournament before finding the net once each in the 2010 and 2014 editions.

The Portuguese captain enjoyed his most prolific World Cup campaign in 2018, scoring four goals, including a memorable hat-trick against Spain. He also scored once at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

By scoring in the current tournament, Ronaldo has now registered goals across six consecutive World Cups, further cementing his status as one of the greatest players in football history.

Portugal will look to build on the early breakthrough as they seek a crucial victory to strengthen their position in Group “K”.
