LAHORE, March 27 (V7N) — An all‑round performance from Moeen Ali and a decisive spell from Hasan Ali powered Karachi Kings to a 14‑run victory over Quetta Gladiators in their opening match of the Pakistan Super League at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Batting first, Kings posted 181 for 7, with Moeen unbeaten on 48 off 29 balls and David Warner contributing 35. Despite a mid‑innings slowdown, Moeen’s late hitting lifted Karachi past 180. Quetta’s Ahmed Daniyal impressed with 3 for 36.

In reply, Gladiators surged to 75 in the Powerplay, thanks to a blistering 52 off 24 balls from Shamyl Hussain, who struck nine boundaries. But once Adam Zampa and Salman Agha removed key batters, the chase lost momentum.

Hasan Ali, who had gone for 16 in his first over, returned brilliantly to claim 4 for 27, including a three‑wicket penultimate over that sealed the contest. Quetta finished on 167 for 7, with Saud Shakeel adding 33.

The win showcased Karachi’s balance, combining Moeen’s composure with Hasan’s incisive bowling. For Quetta, Shamyl’s fireworks were not enough as the middle order faltered.

Scorecard:

  • Karachi Kings 181/7 (Moeen 48*, Warner 35, Daniyal 3‑36)

  • Quetta Gladiators 167/7 (Shamyl 52, Shakeel 33, Hasan Ali 4‑27)

Result: Karachi Kings won by 14 runs.
