Paris, Aug 14 (V7N)- Spanish forward Ferran Torres is set to leave Barcelona after four and a half years and join French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a deal worth around €50 million.
According to Goal.com, PSG have reached a final agreement with Barcelona to sign the 26-year-old forward. The French club will reportedly pay the entire transfer fee in a lump sum, without any performance-related clauses.
Torres has agreed to a five-year contract with PSG. His representatives had requested permission for him to miss Barcelona's training session on Wednesday (August 12) as the transfer moved closer to completion.
Although the presidents and sporting directors of both clubs have reached a verbal agreement, the deal is expected to be officially completed after Torres undergoes a medical examination in France.
The transfer will provide significant financial relief for Barcelona. The Catalan club signed Torres from Manchester City for €55 million in January 2022.
Barcelona will receive around €50 million from the sale, while also avoiding an additional €8 million payment to Manchester City that would have been triggered under the terms of Torres' previous contract if it had been renewed.
Torres made 207 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions over four and a half seasons, scoring 65 goals and providing 23 assists.
During his time at the Catalan club, he won three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey.
