Cumilla, Feb 12, (V7N) – National Citizen Party (NCP) candidate Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser for the party’s southern region, cast his ballot Thursday morning at Gopalnagar High School polling centre in Debidwar upazila, urging voters to exercise their rights peacefully and without fear.

Arriving at 8 a.m., Abdullah greeted election officials before observing the polling process and casting his vote. He told reporters, “As the day progresses, we will move closer to the threshold of victory,” adding that no reports of technical or procedural complications had reached him. He emphasized that voting should be “a festival and not something to fear,” encouraging residents of Debidwar to vote freely for whomever they wished, regardless of personal ties.

Abdullah stressed that elections must not damage relationships, saying, “I would call upon the people of Debidwar to vote for whomever they want. I do not want personal relationships to be damaged because of voting.” His remarks highlighted a call for unity and tolerance amid the competitive atmosphere of the polls.

In Cumilla-4 constituency, the BNP alliance has extended support to Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Jasim Uddin after BNP candidate Manjurul Ahsan Munshi’s candidacy was cancelled. This alignment has added significance to the contest, with Abdullah positioning himself as a candidate promoting inclusivity and calm during the voting process.
