Ukhiya, August 3 (V7N) – A massive political rally and street procession organized by Jamaat-e-Islami took place on Saturday afternoon in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar. The event, which drew thousands of party members and supporters, began at Ukhiya Station at 5:00 PM and continued on foot for approximately five kilometers, ending at Kotbazar Station.

The rally was presided over by Upazila Ameer Maulana Abul Fazal, with the chief guest being Jamaat's Cox’s Bazar district Ameer and nominated parliamentary candidate for the Ukhiya-Teknaf constituency, Principal Maulana Nur Ahmad Anwari. In his speech, Anwari declared, "We are not afraid of threats. The people of Bangladesh no longer want extortionists in power. The next parliament will be an Islamic parliament."

He further stated that the restoration of voting rights and the establishment of just governance are only possible through a unified movement led by Jamaat-e-Islami. Urging citizens to join their political struggle, he emphasized the importance of mass mobilization for change.

Cox’s Bazar district Jamaat Secretary Jahedul Islam also addressed the gathering, asserting, "Despite oppression against Jamaat, our voice could not be silenced. Today’s rally proves that the people are ready for change."

Other speakers included District Social Welfare Secretary Nurul Hossain Siddiqui, District Islami Chhatra Shibir President Abdur Rahim Nuri, Upazila Jamaat Secretary Soltan Ahmed, former Shibir Upazila President and labor organizer Mohammad Shahjahan, and Upazila Nayeb-e-Ameer Nurul Haque. The speakers echoed a common message — that Jamaat-e-Islami offers the only viable path toward a society based on Islamic values and justice.

The event marked the first major Jamaat-led procession in Ukhiya in years and created a festive atmosphere across the region. Participants arrived from remote parts of Ukhiya, many bearing party flags and symbols such as the traditional balance scale.

After the rally concluded at Kotbazar, participants dispersed peacefully and returned to their respective destinations without incident.

This large turnout, particularly from grassroots supporters, signals Jamaat’s ongoing organizational strength in the region despite political restrictions in recent years.
