Dhaka, June 30 (V7N) – The Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) has announced a month-long program of protests culminating in a siege of the Indian embassy in Dhaka on August 6. The party demands the return of Sheikh Hasina from India, where they allege she is currently seeking asylum.

At an emergency press conference held today at the National Press Club to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising and to discuss Bangladesh’s future, JAGPA leaders outlined their protest plans.

Key events include thanksgiving prayers on August 5, a series of protests against Indian aggression throughout July, and the distribution of leaflets across eight divisional cities and twenty districts. These leaflets call for the trial of the Awami League, including those accused of genocide and associates of Sheikh Hasina.

The party aims to raise public awareness through these activities.

Regarding the upcoming local elections and the proportional representation (PR) system, JAGPA Senior Vice President Rashed Pradhan stated that the party would not oppose the PR system or local elections if the Awami League is barred from participating.
