The protest program commenced at 8:00 PM at the Muktamancha (Open Stage) of Shapla Square in Khagrachhari town. Organized by the local NCP chapter, the event drew party activists, leaders, and supporters, who expressed their outrage over what they termed a "deliberate act of political intimidation."
Addressing the demonstrators, central NCP organizer Monjila Sultana (Jhuma) stated,
"Two days ago, an explosive device was detonated beneath our party office. We did not react at the time, hoping it was an isolated incident. However, yesterday’s targeted cocktail attack on our Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain makes it clear that this is part of a broader threat. We cannot and will not remain silent any longer. The NCP will not be cowed by violence or threats. We are committed to bringing about qualitative political change in this country. Inspired by the spirit of the July Uprising, we remain determined to build a truly democratic Bangladesh."
The torch procession began from Chenghi Square and marched through key roads in Khagrachhari town before culminating back at the Muktamancha. Following the rally, a brief protest gathering was held where various party leaders delivered speeches condemning the attack and reaffirming their political commitment.
Among those present were Biplob Tripura, President of NCP Khagrachhari Sadar Upazila; Harichur Rahman Roni, Central Youth Organizer; Thui Ching Marma, District Organizer; and Sheikh Sina Russell, Party Organizer, along with numerous local activists and supporters.
Party leaders called upon law enforcement agencies to investigate the attack urgently and ensure the safety of political activists across the country. They also urged all democratic forces to unite against violence and stand in solidarity with those advocating for peaceful political change.
