HABIGANJ, Aug. 1 (V7N) — A written complaint has been filed with Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station against 10 leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP), including Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari and North Region Chief Coordinator Sarjis Alam, over a clash between activists of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and the NCP.

The complaint was submitted at around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday by Habiganj District Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Iqbal Hossain Rokon. It also names 40 to 50 unidentified individuals as accused.

Those named in the complaint include Nasir Uddin Patwari, Sarjis Alam, Nur Alam Chowdhury, Fakhruddin Zaki, Md. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Ruham Gazi, Mahfuzur Rahman Chowdhury, Nahidul Islam Tarek, Abu Bakar Mohammad Polad and Wadud Mahmud Chowdhury.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on July 28 on the main road in front of Court Mosque in Habiganj town. It alleges that Chhatra Dal activists had gathered to attend a meeting with the family of martyred Ripon Shil when a group led by central and local NCP leaders arrived, chanted provocative slogans and attacked them.

The complaint alleges that Chhatra Dal leader Mahfuz Chowdhury suffered a fractured right shoulder after being struck with an iron rod, while Mozakker Hossain Emon sustained serious head injuries after being hit by a brick.

It also claims that several iPhones—including iPhone 11, 13, 14 and 15 models—and cash were taken from the injured during the incident.

Complainant Iqbal Hossain Rokon alleged that NCP activists launched an unprovoked attack on Chhatra Dal members, prompting the filing of the complaint.

Repeated attempts to contact Habiganj Superintendent of Police Md. Tarek Mahmud and Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Jahedul Haque for comment were unsuccessful, and no official police statement was immediately available.

The allegations contained in the complaint have not been independently verified, and no immediate response from the accused NCP leaders was available.
