DHAKA, May 22 (V7N) – Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), has publicly questioned the integrity of the judicial process under the interim government, alleging that many Awami League criminals are granted bail through "money and political recommendations," while victims of the previous regime struggle to secure similar relief. He also directly challenged the accountability of Legal Advisor Asif Nazrul regarding the slow progress of trials related to the "July Movement."

Alam articulated his concerns in a post on his verified Facebook ID today, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 12 noon, where he raised pointed questions about the trials being conducted. "Many murderers of the Awami League are granted bail on the recommendation of money and political parties. Many oppressed people who were victims of oppression during the Awami regime are not granted bail due to lack of money and political recommendations," Sarjis wrote.

He extended his criticism to include cases involving Hefazat-e-Islami, noting that "many oppressed scholars are still roaming the courts and are imprisoned in false cases filed against Hefazat in the Shapla Chattar murder case." Conversely, he highlighted that "many such accused have been granted bail in the past few months, who were associated with BNP but went to jail for their crimes and crimes during BNP."

Sarjis Alam directly posed the questions: "How does this happen? On whose recommendation? With the direct support of which lawyer and judge?"

Expressing profound dissatisfaction with the pace of justice for those affected by the "July Movement," Alam stated, "So many people were killed in broad daylight on Hasina’s orders, so many people’s blood was shed, and yet not a single trial has been completed in nine months! Not a single murder has been tried!"

The NCP leader then specifically questioned the role of Legal Advisor Asif Nazrul in this perceived failure. "Can Asif Nazrul Sir, as the Legal Advisor, somehow avoid this responsibility? Then shouldn’t we demand his resignation now?" Sarjis Alam concluded.
