Dhaka, May 20 (V7N) – BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu accused India of taking revenge against Bangladesh by failing to pay its dues under the Farakka Barrage Agreement. He also condemned the recent visa restrictions imposed by India, stating that no civilized country would take such steps against another.

Dudu made these remarks at a discussion titled “The Politics of Revenge, Democracy, Good Governance, Bangladesh”, organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Cultural Party at the National Press Club on Tuesday morning.

He criticized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, saying she has “enslaved” India, while urging Dr. Muhammad Yunus to take responsibility for arranging elections.

Regarding the ongoing political tensions in Dhaka, Dudu expressed concern over the treatment of Engineer Ishraq Hossain, whom he described as a victim of political revenge despite being elected by the people's mandate.

He questioned the government’s stance on law and order, noting that those who do not comply with court orders are labeled fascists, while questioning whether the government itself is following legal principles.

Dudu also responded strongly to allegations that the BNP engages in politics using funds from the ruling Awami League, rejecting such claims with anger.
