CHATTOGRAM, May 10 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has declared that if his party comes to power, it will prioritize attracting and promoting both domestic and foreign investment by deregulating and democratizing the economy to achieve sustainable growth.

"Creating jobs for huge unemployed youth and facilitating trade and investment are the core of the party’s Vision-2030 and 31-points proposals," he stated, emphasizing that "an elected government having people’s mandate and political stability are main preconditions to lure the foreign investors in the country."

He also pledged that the BNP would create one crore (10 million) new jobs within 18 months of assuming office.

Chowdhury made these remarks as the chief guest at the concluding session of a seminar titled “Youth's thoughts on employment generation and multi-dimensional industrialization,” held at a local community center in Chattogram.

The seminar, organized jointly by Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal, was part of a nationwide initiative to engage youth and disseminate the BNP’s 31-point policy outline. Similar events are scheduled in Khulna, Bogura, and Dhaka by May 27th.

Chowdhury stressed that political stability, essential for attracting foreign investment, can only be achieved with an elected government. "We assured of and made it clear the BNP’s economic policy to the foreign investors gathered during Investment Summit as we desperately feel for FDI as well as local investment for accelerating the economic growth," he added.

He referenced former President Ziaur Rahman’s policy of promoting the garments industry through liberal economic measures, including Back-To-Back LC facilities, and stated that the BNP plans to introduce similar policies for 15-20 prospective sectors to strengthen the economy.

"We had ousted autocratic regime but could not yet establish an elected government," Chowdhury noted.

Regarding the BNP’s "New Political arrangement," he said, "BNP has announced to materialize Vision 2030 and 31-point outline through a democratic process."

Experts from various fields, both domestically and internationally, participated in the seminar, either in person or virtually. Mahdi Amin, adviser to BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, moderated the session.

Key participants included Chattogram Medical University VC Prof. Omar Faruk Yusuf, Premier University VC Prof. Nasrul Quadir, political analyst Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Jahangirnagar University Prof. Nahreen Khan, Oracle USA IT specialist Muntasir Munir, Dallas University Prof. Shafquat Rabbi, Chattogram University Pro-VC Prof. Kamal Uddin, BNP research cell member Israfil Khasru, filmmakers Mabrur Rashid Banna, Sayeed Abdullah, and Fahim Ahmed, and East Delta University founder Sayeed Al Noman Turja.
