New York, May 4 (V7N) — In a proud moment for the Bangladeshi community, Bangladeshi-American comedian Usama Siddiquee has advanced to the finals of Funny AF with Kevin Hart, where he is competing for a major Netflix comedy special.
The 35-year-old stand-up performer, known for his sharp wit and observational humor, is currently based in New York, though he was born and raised in Texas. Over the years, Siddiquee has steadily built a reputation in the American comedy scene through his unique storytelling style and cultural perspective.
He made his late-night debut in 2024 on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and has also contributed as a writer to the popular series Inventing Anna. Earlier, he gained national attention through his performances on America's Got Talent.
The “Funny AF” competition aims to discover the next generation of comedy stars. Siddiquee is competing in the final round alongside Olivia Carter, Winston Hodges, Caitlin Peluffo, Ron Taylor, and Reg Thomas. The judging panel includes renowned comedians Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kumail Nanjiani.
The winner will be determined in part by public voting, scheduled to take place on May 4 and 5.
Siddiquee’s journey began modestly in Plano, Texas, where a humorous Facebook video during his school years first brought him public attention. That early recognition helped shape his ambition to pursue comedy professionally. He has since performed on stages across the country, gradually rising to national prominence.
His comedic voice stands out for its blend of personal narrative and cultural insight. Drawing from his experiences as a Bangladeshi-American, Siddiquee weaves themes of identity, family, and everyday life into his performances, creating a strong connection with diverse audiences.
For the global Bangladeshi community, his success represents more than just a competition milestone. It highlights growing representation on international platforms like Netflix, where South Asian voices have historically been underrepresented.
Siddiquee previously competed in NBC’s StandUp competition in 2017 and won the Laughing Devil Cup Comedy Festival in 2016, marking key milestones in his career.
As he competes on one of the world’s biggest entertainment platforms, his journey continues to inspire a new generation, demonstrating that global recognition is within reach for emerging talents from diverse backgrounds.
