Kurigram, Jun 17 (V7N) – Tension has emerged along the Kurigram border after India’s Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly attempted to push nine people, including children, into Bangladesh. The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) reportedly resisted the attempt, but the individuals remain stranded at the zero line even after 72 hours.
According to local sources, the incident began around 6:00 a.m. on Sunday (June 14), when BSF personnel allegedly attempted to push six individuals through the Goytapara border in Roumari upazila and three others through the Ijlamari border point. The attempt was reportedly resisted by BGB members along with local residents, preventing immediate entry.
Following the incident, a flag meeting was held between BGB and BSF officials to address the situation.
BGB officials stated that during the meeting, the BSF denied the push-in attempt and declined to take back the individuals. Since then, the nine people have remained stranded at the border’s zero line under uncertain conditions.
Border officials added that discussions between the two sides are ongoing in an effort to resolve the issue and ensure the safe return of the affected individuals.
Authorities from both countries have yet to issue a joint resolution, while the situation continues to draw concern over humanitarian and border management issues in the region.
