Fort Myers, Oct 25 (V7N)- US President Donald Trump has hinted that Washington could launch another military operation against Iran as the conflict approaches its eighth month, with rising fuel prices adding pressure ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, Reuters reported.

Speaking at an election campaign rally in Florida on Friday, October 23, Trump said, “We may do another little Epic Fury,” referring to the US military campaign against Iran. He did not provide further details about a possible operation.

Earlier on Friday, Trump said the United States could end the war quickly if it chose to do so. However, he questioned whether Washington should pursue a swift conclusion or allow the conflict to gradually wind down.

Trump has made varying statements about the duration and objectives of the war. Earlier this month, he said the United States would not launch another attack on Iran before the November 3 midterm elections, which will determine control of Congress.

The United States and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran on February 28, triggering retaliatory Iranian strikes against Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military bases. The conflict has also coincided with Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which have killed thousands and displaced millions, according to reports.

The war has disrupted global energy markets and pushed oil and gas prices higher. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for international energy shipments, has become a major focal point of the conflict.

Approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes through the Strait of Hormuz, making disruptions to shipping through the waterway a significant concern for global energy supplies.

Commercial shipping has faced severe disruption amid attacks, restrictions and countermeasures linked to the conflict. Any renewed US military action could further escalate regional tensions, although Trump has not announced a decision to launch another operation.
