Moulvibazar, Jun 13 (V7N) – A Bangladeshi youth was killed after members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly opened fire near the Dattagram border area of Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar district on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Mujibur Rahman, a resident of the local area.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Sarkar Asif Mahmud, Commanding Officer of the 46 BGB Battalion, continuous rainfall had been occurring in the Dattagram border area since the evening.
He said that at around 7:30 pm, Mujibur Rahman and several others went near the border. At that time, BSF personnel allegedly opened fire on them.
The others managed to flee the area after hearing the gunshots, but Mujibur Rahman was struck by bullets and died on the spot.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials said they are gathering further information regarding the incident and maintaining communication through appropriate border channels.
No official statement from the Indian Border Security Force was immediately available regarding the incident.
