Jhenaidah, Oct 04 (V7N) – A border coordination meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Border Security Force (BSF) of India was held at the zero line of the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah on Saturday morning.
The meeting, which began around 8 a.m., was led by Lt. Col. Md. Rafiqul Alam, Commander of Maheshpur 58 BGB Battalion, and Commandant Shailesh Kumar, Commander of 59 BSF Battalion.
Lt. Col. Rafiqul Alam said the discussion took place near Main Pillar No. 53 adjacent to the Matila Border Outpost (BOP) in Maheshpur upazila.
During the two-hour meeting, both sides discussed various border management issues, including strengthening BGB-BSF relations, maintaining peace and order along the frontier, preventing border killings, human trafficking, cattle smuggling, and drug smuggling.
The meeting was conducted in a cordial and cooperative atmosphere, with both forces expressing commitment to enhancing mutual coordination and information sharing to ensure stability along the border.
A total of 10 officials from each side, including senior staff officers from 58 BGB and 59 BSF, attended the meeting.
