Dhaka, Jul 11 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has withdrawn Local Warning Signal No. 3 from the country's four seaports as weather conditions have improved following recent adverse conditions caused by a low-pressure system. However, the agency has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in five divisions over the next 24 hours.
The information was provided in two separate weather bulletins issued on Saturday and signed by meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque.
According to the latest maritime bulletin, the seaports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been instructed to lower Local Warning Signal No. 3.
Despite the improvement in conditions, the Meteorological Department has advised all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal to continue navigating with caution until Saturday evening.
In a separate heavy rainfall warning, the BMD said that heavy rainfall (44–88 mm in 24 hours) to very heavy rainfall (more than 88 mm in 24 hours) is likely at isolated places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions during the 24-hour period beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The department said the forecast has been issued due to the continued influence of an active monsoon system and urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert, as prolonged rainfall could trigger waterlogging, flash floods and landslides in susceptible regions.
