Dhaka, Jul 09 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast gusty winds of up to 60 kilometres per hour and thunderstorms in 20 districts, including the capital Dhaka, through Thursday afternoon.

In a weather warning issued for the country's inland river ports, valid until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, the Met Office said temporary rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty or squally winds blowing at 45–60 km/h from the south or southeast may affect several parts of the country.

According to the forecast, the districts likely to experience the adverse weather include Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.

In view of the forecast, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised inland river ports in the affected regions to hoist Cautionary Signal No. 1.

The warning remains in effect from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and authorities have urged river transport operators and residents in the affected areas to remain cautious and follow official weather advisories.
