Dhaka, Jul 11 (V7N) — A month-long dengue prevention campaign has been launched in the capital to encourage greater public participation in controlling the spread of dengue.

The campaign was inaugurated on Saturday morning at the Khilgaon Dakshin Goran Playground by Habibur Rashid Habib, Member of Parliament for Dhaka-9 and State Minister for Road Transport and Railways.

Speaking at the event, the State Minister said that government agencies and city corporations alone cannot eliminate dengue, stressing that a broad-based social movement is essential to effectively combat the mosquito-borne disease.

He urged citizens to play an active role by keeping their homes, courtyards and surrounding areas clean to prevent mosquito breeding.

Following the inauguration, a public awareness rally marched through various roads in Khilgaon, Dakshin Goran and nearby neighborhoods.

The rally drew the participation of local leaders, volunteers and residents, while awareness leaflets outlining preventive measures against dengue were distributed among the public to promote community engagement in the campaign.
