Dhaka, Jan 05 (V7N)- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has confirmed the identities of eight individuals from nine families who applied for identification after the exhumation of 114 bodies from the Rayerbazar graveyard in the capital through DNA profiling.

CID Chief Md. Chibgat Ullah disclosed the information on Sunday (January 5) morning while presenting the results of the identification process of previously unidentified bodies buried at the Rayerbazar Cemetery.

As the identities were revealed, relatives of the deceased broke down in tears, creating an emotional atmosphere at the cemetery.

The eight individuals whose identities have been confirmed are:

  • Md. Mahin Mia (25) of Phulpur upazila, Mymensingh

  • Asadullah of Sribardi upazila, Sherpur

  • Parvez Bepari of Barohatia village, Matlab upazila, Chandpur

  • Rafiqul Islam of Satkachina village under Nazirpur police station, Pirojpur

  • Sohel Rana of Louhajang police station, Munshiganj

  • Rafiqul Islam of Feni

  • Faisal Sarkar of Debidwar upazila, Cumilla

  • Mugder Kabil Hossain (58) of Dhaka

The CID began the exhumation process on December 7 last year, and by December 27, a total of 114 bodies had been exhumed for forensic examination and DNA testing.

CID Chief Md. Chibgat Ullah added that the identification process of another unidentified body is progressing rapidly, and further results are expected soon.
