Chattogram, Aug 17 (V7N)- Heavy rainfall has caused widespread waterlogging in several areas of Chattogram city, leaving residents in severe distress.

Rain began around midnight and continued through the morning. Although the intensity decreased somewhat after 8am on Tuesday (August 17), water remained stagnant in several low-lying parts of the city.

Areas including Agrabad, Muradpur, Sholashahar and Bakalia were submerged.

The waterlogging caused significant disruption to the morning commute. Office-goers and students faced difficulties reaching their destinations, while vehicle movement was disrupted in several areas by knee-deep water.

City residents also complained that some rickshaw pullers were demanding higher fares by taking advantage of the waterlogging.

Meanwhile, rainwater entered several shops and business establishments in affected areas, causing additional difficulties for traders and customers.

Residents have expressed concern over recurring waterlogging in the port city whenever heavy rainfall occurs and called for effective measures to improve the city's drainage system.
