Dhaka, Oct 08 (V7N) – The Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) disposed of 257 cases in September through prompt trial activities aimed at curbing crime and traffic-related offenses across the capital.
Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the information in a press release sent to the media on Tuesday (October 7).
According to the release, a total of 3,931 cases were recorded during the month, and 3,881 accused persons were arrested. Of them, 3,145 accused were served with warrants or summons, while a total fine of Tk 3,52,900 was imposed.
The cases included drug-related crimes, mobile snatching, theft, eve-teasing, illegal road obstruction, and various traffic law violations. The DMP said that its instant trial system allows victims to receive judicial services swiftly, contributing to quicker resolution and justice.
The statement further added that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of city residents through continuous enforcement and short-trial programs.
