Dhaka, Sep 28 (V7N) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali said that out of 254 temples in Dhaka city, 89 have been identified as high-risk for security purposes during the ongoing Durga Puja celebrations. He spoke to reporters after visiting Dhakeshwari Temple on Sunday afternoon.

This year, Durga Puja is being celebrated in 254 mandap across Dhaka, with security measures divided into four categories. Each mandap will have 11 to 50 personnel in charge of security, totaling 2,200 officers from various forces. In addition, 2,400 law enforcement personnel will be deployed during the immersion ceremony. Detective police in plain clothes, volunteers, and other forces will also participate to maintain safety.

The DMP Commissioner said senior officials would visit the puja mandap starting today, adding that the situation is better organized this year compared to last year. He urged both police and devotees to remain vigilant to prevent any miscreants from causing disruptions.

To prevent the spread of misinformation, a cyber patrol team has been deployed. The DMP has also requested that two members from each puja committee remain present at their respective mandap at all times. Traffic management initiatives have also been implemented to ensure smooth movement around the celebration sites.
