Dhaka, Jul 16 (V7N) — The flood situation in Chattogram, the three hill districts and Cox's Bazar has improved significantly following the absence of fresh heavy rainfall. However, despite the receding floodwaters, thousands of affected residents continue to struggle with damaged homes, roads and agricultural land.

In Satkania Upazila of Chattogram, floodwaters have receded from almost all villages, allowing residents to leave emergency shelters and return to their homes. Many families, however, are now facing the difficult task of recovering from extensive flood damage.

Regional roads in nearly all unions of the upazila—including Charati, Amilaish, Sonakania, Kanchana, Nalua and Aochia—have sustained severe damage, disrupting transportation and increasing the hardship of local residents.

A similar situation has been reported in neighboring Banshkhali Upazila, where floodwaters have largely receded but widespread damage to houses, cropland and road infrastructure remains.

In Bandarban, water has receded from most low-lying areas, while the Sangu, Matamuhuri and Bankkhali rivers are now flowing below the danger level.

The situation has also improved in Cox's Bazar, with floodwaters withdrawing from most low-lying areas.

Meanwhile, conditions in Rangamati have shown gradual improvement, although several low-lying areas remain waterlogged. Shortages of food and safe drinking water continue to affect many flood-hit communities as recovery efforts remain underway.
