Dhaka, Sep 09 (V7N)- Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said that sponsorship of professional golfers can help develop golf in Bangladesh and create more skilled and professional players.
He made the remarks at the prize-giving ceremony of the Second CAS Cup Professional Tournament-2026 at Kurmitola Golf Club on Tuesday evening (September 9).
The Army Chief called on people from different sectors, including businesspeople and bankers, to come forward to support the development of golf in the country.
He said regular financial assistance and sponsorship for professional golfers would encourage talented players to participate in the sport and help them develop their skills.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman said the development of golf could create opportunities for Bangladesh both in sports and on the international stage. With proper sponsorship and training, he said, Bangladesh has the potential to produce world-class golfers.
He also said initiatives are underway to establish golf academies at five additional locations outside Dhaka. He expressed hope that these academies would provide training opportunities and help identify talented golfers from different regions.
