Dhaka, Jun 09 (V7N) – National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has alleged that administrators of two Dhaka city corporations are using government resources to conduct election-related campaigning.

He made the remarks on Tuesday afternoon after attending a tree distribution program at Hossain Ali High School in Nakhalpara, Dhaka.

Asif Mahmud claimed that a 5-point demand raised by the NCP highlights widespread irregularities ahead of the local government elections. He alleged that city authorities are unable to properly manage civic responsibilities while simultaneously engaging in activities that resemble political campaigning.

He further accused authorities of contributing to urban mismanagement, citing the excessive use of posters across the capital and the establishment of cattle markets in residential areas and near metro stations. According to him, such practices demonstrate a lack of administrative competence among those currently overseeing city governance.

The NCP leader also alleged that political processions linked to the Awami League are being held in various parts of the country, describing it as a failure of law enforcement and the Home Ministry, despite what he said were restrictions on the party’s activities.

On upcoming local elections, Asif Mahmud said the NCP is preparing to contest independently. He added that the party will take a final decision on alliances or electoral strategy once the election schedule is officially announced.

The comments come amid growing political activity and rising debate over election preparedness and administrative neutrality ahead of local polls.
