Dhaka, Jun 09 (V7N) – Opposition Leader and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that the government is interfering in all state institutions, claiming that it lacks a mandate formed through the genuine will of the people.

He made the remarks on Tuesday afternoon while speaking at Jamaat-e-Islami’s shadow budget proposal program for the 2026–27 fiscal year held in Moghbazar, Dhaka.

Dr. Rahman also commented on the post-‘mass uprising of 24’ political situation, saying that although an interim government was formed based on public expectations, it has also failed to ensure justice for the people.

Speaking on fiscal policy, the Jamaat Ameer said that no national budget can be effective without honesty, transparency, and accountability in governance.

He further stated that the opposition party would propose in parliament to align the national fiscal year with the calendar year, arguing that such a change could improve planning and financial management.

Dr. Rahman urged constructive political engagement, saying that while opposition parties should criticize proposals that go against public interest, they should also extend cooperation for policies that benefit the nation.

The shadow budget initiative is part of Jamaat-e-Islami’s broader effort to present alternative economic proposals ahead of the upcoming fiscal cycle.
