Dhaka, Apr 14 (V7N) – Sweet shops across the country have been experiencing a heavy rush since Tuesday morning as people celebrate Pahela Baishakh by purchasing sweets for family, relatives, and friends.
Customers are buying sweets in various colors and flavors, while corporate orders have also increased significantly. Shopkeepers say they made advance preparations ahead of the New Year to meet the demand.
Many sweet makers have introduced new varieties of sandesh and chhana-based sweets, specially designed with Bengali themes. Some sweets are shaped like fish, birds, and other traditional motifs, adding a festive artistic touch.
To attract buyers, sweets are being packed in decorative boxes and baskets, usually in one-kilogram or slightly smaller packages. These gift packs are especially popular among families and corporate clients.
Shop owners say that business this year is slightly better compared to previous years, reflecting strong festive demand and growing interest in traditional Bengali sweets during New Year celebrations.
