Dhaka, Oct 30 (V7N)- Biman Bangladesh Airlines has formed a four-member investigation committee to determine the cause of a technical malfunction on an aircraft carrying Prime Minister Tareque Rahman from Japan.

The committee has been instructed to submit its investigation report within the next seven working days.

The airline's Administration and Human Resources Department issued an official order forming the committee on Friday (October 30).

The committee will identify the nature and root cause of the technical fault, examine the measures taken to ensure the aircraft's airworthiness, and assess the overall impact of the incident. Its investigation will also cover the resulting flight delay, inconvenience to passengers, and possible damage to the airline's institutional reputation.

Following a four-day visit to Japan, the Biman flight carrying the Prime Minister and his entourage was scheduled to depart for Dhaka at 6:18 pm local time on Thursday (October 29).

After passengers had boarded and the aircraft had been pushed back, a warning indicating a spoiler-related malfunction appeared in the cockpit while the plane was taxiing towards the runway.

As a result, the takeoff was aborted. The aircraft underwent technical inspections and repairs before eventually departing for Dhaka more than four hours behind schedule.

The flight carrying the Prime Minister landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 2:48 am on Friday (October 30).
