Dhaka, Feb 21 (V7N) — Prime Minister Tarique Rahman worked from his office for the first time today and held initial discussions with ministry officials regarding the implementation of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) election promises, including support for religious leaders and employment initiatives.
Prime Minister's Advisor Mahdi Amin said at a briefing at 3:30 pm that the Prime Minister began the day by exchanging greetings with office staff and planting trees in the office premises.
Honorarium for Religious Leaders
Discussions focused on delivering monthly honorariums and festival allowances to imams, khatibs, and muezzins of mosques, a key election promise of the BNP. Mahdi Amin said the program will initially start before Eid-ul-Fitr and will be rolled out across the country in phases.
Employment Initiatives
The Prime Minister also reviewed plans to address unemployment by developing skilled and qualified manpower. This includes preparing personnel for government and private sector jobs as well as training workers for export opportunities abroad. Ministry secretaries and officials provided detailed input on the strategies for implementing these programs.
Mahdi Amin emphasized that the BNP government is committed to fulfilling its promises to the people as quickly as possible, with a focus on both social support and economic development.
This marks the beginning of the new government’s efforts to implement its election pledges and deliver benefits directly to citizens.
