Dhaka, Sep 24 (V7N) – Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed profound grief over the passing of Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and Head of the Council of Senior Scholars, who died in Riyadh on Tuesday morning at the age of 82.
In a condolence message, Professor Yunus said, “With the passing of Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, the Muslim Ummah has lost a great scholar and a guiding voice of Islamic thought. His lifelong dedication to the service of Islam and invaluable research and knowledge will be forever remembered. His absence will be deeply felt by the Islamic world.”
Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh also served as the head of the General Fatwa and Research Organization and the Supreme Council of the Muslim World League. Renowned globally for his profound Islamic scholarship and leadership, he began higher education in 1961 at the Sharia College of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh and earned a specialized degree in Arabic and Islamic Sharia in 1965.
