Dhaka, Sep 21 (V7N) – Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Tarek Ahmed, has dismissed as false and misleading the recent reports claiming that the UAE imposed a visa ban on nine Asian and African countries, including Bangladesh.
On Saturday, several media outlets reported that the UAE had suspended the issuance of visas for citizens of Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Sudan, and Uganda. The report cited a website named UAE Visa Online as its source.
However, expatriate Bangladeshis in the UAE pointed out that the mentioned website is not an official government platform but rather a private visa trading site. They expressed frustration that such unverified claims were circulated by mainstream media, calling it harmful for the expatriate community.
Responding to the matter, Ambassador Tarek Ahmed said, “We have not received any such notification from the UAE government. We feel that this is a malicious campaign, and there may be other motives behind it.”
The ambassador urged Bangladeshi citizens to rely only on official announcements from the UAE government or the Bangladesh Embassy for visa-related information.
