Dhaka, July 16 (V7N) — In preparation for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) has initiated a major reshuffle within its field administration, transferring 51 election officials across the country. The move is aimed at enhancing electoral oversight and ensuring administrative neutrality in the pre-election period.

The decision was formally announced through a directive issued on Tuesday by Mohammad Shahidur Rahman, Senior Assistant Secretary of the EC Secretariat.

According to the notification, the reshuffle involves officers serving in various constituencies and upazilas, including those in urban and rural jurisdictions. The EC clarified that although Pallabi Thana Election Officer Razia Sultana, Demra Thana Election Officer Ahsan Habib, and Muradnagar Upazila Election Officer Shahid Hossain were initially included in the transfer list, their postings were later amended in the final version of the order.

The directive further stated, “Transferred officers must be released from their current posts by July 22. Failure to comply will result in automatic release on July 23.”

This large-scale administrative realignment is part of the EC’s broader effort to ensure a fair and impartial electoral process. Such reshuffles are customary in Bangladesh before general elections to prevent potential conflicts of interest, reduce localized political influence, and maintain a balanced field administration.

The Election Commission has emphasized transparency and accountability in the run-up to the polls, and sources suggest that further personnel changes could follow as part of its strategy to prepare the election infrastructure.

The 13th National Parliamentary Election is expected to be a critical political event, drawing intense scrutiny both domestically and internationally. The Election Commission’s measures signal an early push to strengthen credibility and efficiency within the election system.
