DHAKA, June 7, (V7N) – Sacrificial waste management operations commenced simultaneously today across all 75 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain inspected the Secondary Transfer Station (STS) adjacent to Kalabagan Shishu Park to oversee the swift removal of sacrificial waste. He was accompanied by, among others, Local Government Division Secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi and Dhaka South City Corporation administrator Md. Shahjahan Mia.

During the inspection, the adviser highlighted that cleaning sacrificial waste in the city presents a significant challenge. He cautioned that if the waste is not removed promptly, it could lead to odor pollution and potentially spread diseases and germs.

Asif expressed optimism that the city corporation would be able to remove all waste within 12 hours, ensuring that the Eid joy of city residents would not be hampered by sacrificial waste this year.

More than 10,000 DSCC personnel are currently deployed at the field level for sacrificial waste removal. A total of 2,079 vehicles, including 207 dump trucks, 44 compactors, 39 container carriers, and 16 pay loaders, are being utilized across the 75 wards for these activities.

To manage the sacrificial waste removal efforts, a control room has been established at the Emergency Operations Centre of DSCC, where round-the-clock supervision is being conducted.
