Tehran, Mar 23 (V7N) – Iran has issued a strong warning that any attack on its power plants would trigger a sweeping retaliation across the Middle East’s energy sector, potentially causing long-term and irreparable damage.
Speaking in an interview on Sunday, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, said Tehran would respond decisively to any such aggression. His remarks were reported by several international media outlets, including Middle East Eye.
Qalibaf stated that Iran’s retaliation would target energy and oil infrastructure across the region, warning that such actions could disrupt global energy markets and drive up oil prices for an extended period.
The statement comes amid rising tensions following remarks by Donald Trump, who reportedly threatened a “devastating” strike on Iran’s power facilities if the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz was not reopened within 48 hours.
In response, Tehran has maintained its position, with reports indicating that Iran has restricted access to the Strait of Hormuz for the United States and its allies for nearly a month, while allowing passage for its own partners.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical النفط transit routes, and any prolonged disruption could have significant implications for global energy supplies and prices.
The escalating rhetoric underscores growing geopolitical tensions in the region, raising concerns over potential impacts on international trade and energy security.
