Kuwait City, Mar 15 (V7N) — A drone attack targeting Kuwait International Airport damaged part of its radar system, though no passengers or airport staff were injured, according to local authorities and media reports.
Several drones targeted Kuwait International Airport, damaging a portion of the airport’s radar system, but no casualties were reported, authorities confirmed.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, said multiple drones struck the airport’s radar facilities. Despite the impact on the radar infrastructure, the incident did not cause injuries to passengers or airport personnel.
Airport operations were reportedly monitored closely following the incident, and authorities began assessing the extent of the damage to the radar system. Officials did not immediately disclose whether the attack disrupted flight operations.
According to reports by Al Jazeera, the incident occurred amid a broader escalation of regional tensions involving attacks on U.S. military installations across the Middle East.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched what it described as its “50th operation” targeting U.S. military bases in the region.
The report said several American bases were targeted, including Al-Dhafra and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, Juffair and the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan.
Regional security analysts say the attacks highlight growing instability across the Middle East and raise concerns about the safety of critical infrastructure, including civilian aviation facilities.
Authorities in Kuwait have not yet confirmed who was responsible for the drone strike on the airport, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
