New York, Sept 24 (V7N) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday addressed a high-level international conference in New York on “The Peaceful Resolution of the Palestine Question and Implementation of the Two-State Solution,” where he strongly condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza and reiterated his call for immediate action.

During his speech, Erdogan displayed an image of starving Palestinians in Gaza and said the genocide in the enclave, which has already claimed more than 65,000 lives, continues mercilessly. “Anyone with even the slightest conscience cannot accept such mass killings or remain silent in the face of this genocide,” he said.

Erdogan expressed hope that recent steps taken by several nations recognizing the State of Palestine would accelerate the implementation of the two-state solution. “This recognition by a group of countries, including France, marks a very significant and historic step,” he added, welcoming the growing international consensus.

The Turkish leader stressed that a ceasefire in Gaza is urgently needed, humanitarian aid must be allowed to flow freely, and Israel should withdraw its troops immediately. He underlined that these measures are essential to restoring peace and stability in the region.

Erdogan is scheduled to deliver another speech on Tuesday at the United Nations General Assembly, where he is expected to highlight global governance challenges and call for reforms to the UN Security Council. He will also present Turkey’s priorities directly to world leaders, emphasizing the need for fairer international structures.

Since 1955, Brazil has traditionally opened the General Debate of the UN General Assembly, followed by the host country, the United States. Erdogan will be the fourth speaker on the opening day this year.

Before departing for New York on Sunday, Erdogan noted that what sets this year’s General Assembly apart from previous sessions is the large number of countries planning to officially recognize Palestine. “We hope these decisions to recognize Palestine will bring new momentum to the implementation of the two-state solution,” he said.
