Dhaka, May 15 (V7N) – A high-level meeting on reducing traffic congestion and modernizing traffic management in Dhaka city was held on Thursday evening at the Public Administration Meeting Room of the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The meeting focused on improving the capital’s road management system, strengthening coordination among transport-related agencies, modernizing traffic signal systems, and enhancing the overall public transport network to ease chronic traffic congestion in Dhaka.
Among those present at the meeting were Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid, Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam, Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, and Member of Parliament Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas.
According to sources present at the meeting, discussions also emphasized the need for stronger inter-agency coordination and the implementation of modern traffic management technologies to improve urban mobility and reduce travel time for commuters.
Officials said this was the second meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the issue of traffic congestion reduction and traffic management modernization in Dhaka city.
