Jhalokathi, Oct 12 (V7N) – The treatment of six-month-old Nirob Hossain has stalled due to a lack of money after he developed severe seizures following pneumonia, with doctors reportedly suspecting bleeding in his head.
The infant was taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal in critical condition. After conducting medical tests, doctors reportedly said blood had spread inside his head and advised that he be transferred to Dhaka immediately for intensive care unit (ICU) support.
However, his financially struggling family cannot afford the cost of further treatment and has appealed to well-wishers and charitable organisations for urgent financial assistance to save his life.
Nirob is the son of Nazrul Islam, a fisherman from the Galua area of Rajapur upazila in Jhalokathi . His father, the family's sole earning member, is currently at sea for fishing to support the family.
According to family members, Nirob suddenly fell ill a few days ago and was taken to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. During treatment, he developed severe seizures, and his condition deteriorated. He was subsequently admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal for advanced treatment.
His grandmother, Hasina Begum, who is staying with him at the hospital, said doctors had informed the family after medical examinations that the infant had bleeding in his head. She said doctors believed he could be saved if he were transferred to Dhaka without delay and provided with ICU support.
But the family, already struggling financially, has been unable to arrange the money needed for the treatment.
Nirob's relatives have appealed to affluent individuals, charitable organisations and social welfare groups to come forward with financial assistance. They have also sought prayers and good wishes for his recovery.
People wishing to help with Nirob's treatment can send financial assistance directly to the following mobile banking account: bKash (Personal): 01757694043
The family has urged people to extend whatever support they can to help the infant receive urgent medical care.
