Barcelona, Nov 06 (V7N)- Brazilian forward Raphinha has signed a new contract with Barcelona, extending his stay at the Spanish club until June 2030.

Barcelona confirmed the agreement on Thursday, securing the future of the club captain and its leading scorer this season.

The 29-year-old joined Barcelona from Leeds United in 2022 and has since made 190 appearances, scoring 94 goals for the Catalan giants.

Raphinha has also taken on the captaincy this season and established himself as one of the team's key players.

Although primarily a winger, the Brazilian has increasingly been deployed as a centre-forward in a false-nine role this season.

He has scored 19 goals in 13 appearances across all competitions, including 15 in La Liga and four in the UEFA Champions League.

The new agreement extends his previous contract, which was due to expire in 2028, by two additional years.
