Dhaka, Oct 30 (V7N)- Bangladesh strengthened their position in the match as the West Indies were bowled out for 245 in their first innings, handing the Tigers a 27-run lead on the second day.

The hosts claimed the Caribbean side’s final four wickets for just 32 runs after the lunch break, with Nayeem Hasan leading the bowling attack with four wickets.

Earlier, Bangladesh had been dismissed for 272 in their first innings. In reply, the West Indies showed some resistance before suffering a batting collapse in the second session.

At the start of the session, Joshua Da Silva and Roston Chase struck five boundaries in just over three overs. During that period, Mominul Haque dropped a catch from Da Silva at short leg and fell face-first onto the ground while attempting the catch. He subsequently underwent a concussion assessment and was taken off the field.

Just two balls later, Da Silva was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who bowled him after the delivery slipped under his bat.

The West Indies' lower order then struggled against Nayeem's bowling. He dismissed Shamar Joseph, who scored four runs, with a catch taken by wicketkeeper Litton Das.

Nayeem soon trapped Jomel Warrican LBW as the batter attempted to play a back-foot shot against a slightly short-pitched delivery. Warrican departed without scoring.

The Bangladesh spinner then completed his four-wicket haul by removing Jayden Seales, who was caught at mid-off.

Despite the collapse, Roston Chase remained unbeaten on 43 as the West Indies finished their innings at 245, leaving Bangladesh with a 27-run advantage.
