London, Oct 27 (V7N)- England captain Harry Kane has won the 2026 Ballon d’Or, becoming the first English footballer in 25 years to claim the prestigious individual award, The Guardian has reported.

Kane’s name was announced on Monday night, October 26, during a glittering ceremony at the London Palladium Theatre.

The Bayern Munich striker emerged ahead of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé in the men’s category to secure football’s most coveted individual honour.

Kane enjoyed an outstanding year for both club and country, scoring a reported 89 goals since August 2025. He played a key role in Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga title triumph and helped lead England to the semi-finals of the World Cup. He also secured the European Golden Boot.

Speaking after receiving the award, Kane said the competition had been incredibly tough and admitted he was almost speechless. He added that winning the Ballon d’Or in London made the moment even more special.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for English football, ending a 25-year wait for an English winner of the men’s Ballon d’Or.
