Two more people have died of Covid-19 across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours till 8am Friday.

The information was confirmed in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).


During this time, 15 new Covid-19 cases were detected, it added.

According to the press release, both of the deceased were women — one from Dhaka and the other from Chittagong.

With their deaths, the total number of Covid-related fatalities this year has risen to three.

The DGHS reported that 174 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, of which 15 came back positive.

On June 4, a man died of Covid-19 in Dhaka. The DGHS said he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.

So far this year, the overall positivity rate from tested samples stands at 13.5%.

According to the DGHS, a total of 2,051,800 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country so far.

With three recoveries in the past 24 hours, the total number of recovered patients now stands at 2,019,401.
