BARCELONA, May 3 (V7N) – Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres struck late goals to give Barcelona a 2-1 win at Osasuna, moving the Catalan giants 14 points clear of Real Madrid. With the victory, Barcelona will be crowned La Liga champions if their arch-rivals drop points against Espanyol on Sunday.
Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the 81st minute with a powerful header from a Marcus Rashford cross, before Torres slotted home a second four minutes later. Although Raul Garcia pulled one back for Osasuna in stoppage time, Barcelona held on to secure their 10th consecutive league win.
Barcelona struggled in the first half without the injured Lamine Yamal, and Osasuna's Ante Budimir hit the post in the opening period. However, the introduction of Rashford and Torres off the bench injected pace and precision into Hansi Flick's side, ultimately unlocking a stubborn Osasuna defense.
Elsewhere, Villarreal guaranteed themselves a Champions League qualification spot with a 5-1 romp over Levante. Meanwhile, Diego Simeone rotated his entire team with the Champions League in mind as Atletico Madrid defeated Valencia 2-0 at Mestalla.
If Real Madrid beat Espanyol on Sunday, Barcelona's next opportunity to clinch the title will be in the Clasico on May 10. Flick said he would not watch Madrid's match, joking that he might take his wife to see magician El Mago Pop instead.
