SYLHET, May 30 (V7N): The Sylhet Metropolitan BNP organized a prayer meeting and shirni distribution on Saturday (May 30) to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of President Ziaur Rahman, held after Zohr prayer at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Dargah Mosque.
BNP National Executive Committee Co-Organizing Secretary Miftah Siddiqui and former Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Badruzzaman Selim addressed the event, chaired by Acting President Rezaul Hasan Kayes Lodi and moderated by General Secretary Md. Imdad Hossain Chowdhury.
Speakers emphasized that President Ziaur Rahman’s contributions to patriotism, nationalist ideals, and multi-party democracy would forever be honored. They sought forgiveness from the martyr leader and called on all party leaders and activists to unite in implementing his vision for Bangladesh’s and the world’s welfare.
The program was attended by senior Metropolitan BNP figures including Vice Presidents Dr. Ashraf Ali, Afzal Hossain, Amir Hossain, and Rahim Mallick; Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Haque Chowdhury, Shuaib Ahmed, Abdul Wahid Suhel, Matiul Bari Khorshed, and Abul Kalam; along with Organizing Secretaries, department heads, councilors, and student leaders.
A special prayer was offered for President Ziaur Rahman’s soul forgiveness and the nation’s prosperity, followed by shirni distribution among mosque devotees and the public.
