Pabna, Oct 6 (V7N) – Khaled Saifullah, manager of Janata Bank PLC’s Pakshi branch in Ishwardi upazila, Pabna, has gone missing with Tk 1 crore 30 lakh in cash, sparking concern among bank officials and local authorities.

According to bank sources and police, Khaled Saifullah left the bank around noon on Sunday after withdrawing a total of Tk 1 crore 30 lakh. Earlier that morning, he had requested cash remittance from the Ishwardi Corporate Branch. The assistant general manager of the corporate branch, Md. Mohsanatul Haque, lodged a general diary (GD) at Ishwardi Police Station after failing to contact him.

Haque stated that at 11:15 a.m., Saifullah withdrew Tk 30 lakh from Janata Bank’s Dashuria Bazar branch. Subsequently, he received another Tk 1 crore from Pakshi branch at 11:35 a.m. during the handover process, which was accompanied by Ansar member Mahbub. By 11:45 a.m., Saifullah and Mahbub departed for the Pakshi branch in a private car driven by Md. Ismail Hossain. According to Mahbub, Saifullah dropped him near the BRAC Bank in Ishwardi and drove off with the cash.

By 3:30 p.m., the assistant manager of the Pakshi branch contacted the corporate branch and confirmed that Saifullah had not yet arrived. His mobile phone remained unreachable, prompting the bank officials to file the GD and alert local authorities.

Saifullah’s wife, Dilruba Begum, expressed concern, saying, “He left home for work as usual, but we have not been able to contact him since the bank informed us of his disappearance. We do not know if he went voluntarily or if foul play was involved.”

Janata Bank’s General Manager of the Rajshahi zonal office, Jahangir Hossain Jowardar, said, “We have learned of the incident orally and are investigating on-site at the Pakshi branch. The matter is extremely serious. The bank is preparing to file a formal written complaint with the police.”

Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.S.M. Abdun Noor confirmed, “We have received the GD and are investigating the matter. Legal action will be taken based on the findings.”
