Dhaka, Oct 01 (V7N) – Today marked the final day for withdrawal of candidatures in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections. In the morning, 16 director candidates, including former cricket captain Tamim Iqbal, withdrew their nominations.

As a result, singer Asif Akbar will be elected unopposed as a director from the Chittagong division. Among those who withdrew, Mir Helal Uddin stepped down from the Chittagong District Sports Association quota.

Following the withdrawals, there are now only two valid candidates for the Chittagong division quota: Asif Akbar, councilor of the Comilla District Sports Association, and Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury, councilor of the Chittagong Divisional Sports Association. With no other contenders, both will be elected unopposed.

The BCB board of directors election is scheduled to be held on October 6.
