Jhalokathi, Oct 6 (V7N) – Three consecutive burglaries were reported in West Noikathi, Rajapur upazila, Jhalokathi early Monday morning. During a chase by local residents, a 30-year-old suspect named Alamin was caught, beaten by an angry crowd, and handed over to police.
Alamin is the son of Anwar Sheikh from Chungapasha village in Pirojpur Sadar. Local resident Mojibur Rahman said that around 3:30 a.m., family members woke up after hearing noises inside their house. When they tried to chase the intruders, three to four thieves attempted to escape. Locals captured one in a paddy field and gave him a public beating on the road before police arrived.
The affected homeowner, Mozammel Hossain Talukdar, stated, “Around 2:30 a.m., the thieves sprayed inside our house to incapacitate us and stole over Tk 6 lakh worth of valuables, including 4 bhori of gold jewelry, Tk 50,000 cash, and mobile phones. Another house was targeted, where one thief was caught.”
Rajapur police ASI Kalam said, “We were informed early in the morning and arrived with a mobile team. With the help of locals, we recovered the injured suspect and brought him to the police station. Legal action is being taken.”
