Chatmohar, Pabna, June 14 (V7N) – Gunaigacha Shaheed Shamsuddin Smriti Sangha has emerged as the champion of the Chatmohar Premier Cricket League (CPL), a tournament organized by the Arafat Rahman Coco Memorial Cricket Club. They secured their victory by defeating Mathurapur Adarsh Cricket Club by a commanding 116 runs in the final match, held at the Chatmohar Government Degree College ground on Friday afternoon.
Winning the toss, Gunaigacha Shaheed Shamsuddin Smriti Sangha elected to bat first, posting a formidable total of 189 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 15 overs. Zahid was the top scorer with an impressive 72 runs, while Arif contributed a significant 47 runs. For Mathurapur Adarsh Cricket Club, Shuvo and Roni were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming 3 wickets.
In response, Mathurapur Adarsh Cricket Club struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for just 73 runs in only 7 overs. Shuvoo led their scoring with 34 runs, and Maruf added 16. Vijay and Zahid were instrumental in Gunaigacha Shaheed Shamsuddin Smriti Sangha's dominant bowling performance, taking 4 wickets and 3 wickets respectively.
Zahid of Shaheed Shamsuddin Smriti Sangha was rightfully named Man of the Match for his all-round performance, while his teammate Arif received the Man of the Tournament award.
Individual accolades for the tournament also went to Rakib of Dhulauri Muktar Molla Cricket XI, who was recognized as the best bowler with 11 wickets, and Mehrab of DBGram United, who was awarded best batsman for accumulating 258 runs.
The prizes were presented to the winners at a ceremony following the game. Hasadul Islam Hira, former chairman of Chatmohar Upazila Parishad, former municipal mayor, and former member secretary of Upazila BNP, presided as the chief guest.
Among the other notable attendees were Chatmohar Municipal BNP President Asaduzzaman Arshed, General Secretary Touhidul Islam Taijul, Medical Officer of Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex Dr. Alamgir Hossain, President of Chatmohar Press Club Helalur Rahman Jewel, Former President Rakibur Rahman Tukun, General Secretary SM Masud Rana, Convener of Arafat Rahman Coco Memorial Cricket Club Salauddin Sabbir, and Member Secretary Habibur Rahman Habib.
The tournament, which commenced on June 2, saw the participation of eight teams, including one from the municipality and seven from different unions. The overall management of the event was overseen by the voluntary organization Samajik Bandhan.
