Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, June 14 (V7N) – Four individuals, including a college student, were shot and injured in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, on Friday afternoon, as gunmen allegedly led by Abdu Shukkur and Imran Khan Bilas opened fire on people returning home after Friday prayers.
The injured have been identified as Osamabin Hossain, a resident of Hoiyang Jhimongkhali in Teknaf and a student of Chittagong Government Sir Ashutosh College, along with Md. Yunus, Md. Raju, and Md. Shafi, all from the same village.
The incident occurred in Teknaf's Hoiyang Jhimangkhali after Friday prayers on June 13. Osamabin Hossain, the injured college student, confirmed the attack.
He recounted, "Today, on Friday, on his way home after Friday prayers, our opponent, Abdu Shukkur, and Imran Khan Bilas, the Awami League leader and the head of the terrorist group in Jhimangkhali area, led by Shukkur, and his forces suddenly opened fire, and three others, including me, Md. Yunus, Md. Raju and Md. Shafiq, were shot." He added that locals rescued them and transported them to the hospital for treatment. According to Hossain, Abdu Shukkur, Imran Khan Bilas, and their associates fired shots before fleeing the scene.
Sub-Inspector Rubel, in-charge of the Hoi Kyung Police Outpost, confirmed the incident, stating, "Today, a shooting incident took place in Jhimongkhali. Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team reached the spot and normalized the situation in the area." Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
